Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

It's an important word.  At its heart it means to substitute, that which is mine is given to another, or vice versa.
When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.  This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
"He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.""
                                                     --Matthew 8:16,17 TNIV
Jesus heals Peter's mother-in-law, an illustration of the ministry of Jesus, and how Isaiah the Prophet years before knew the deliverer, the Christ, would bless.  Jesus took upon himself the pains, the afflictions or wounds that were ours--they became his.

The cross is a symbol of that substitution: Christ takes upon himself our brokenness, and we take upon us his righteousness and wholeness.  The good news of Jesus Christ is trusting this vicarious experience in faith.
