Building One Another

Dear Friend,

Have you heard of the woman in Romania who allegedly burned seven paintings by such artists as Matisse, Picasso, and Monet worth a hundred million dollars or more? They were stolen from the Kunsthal, a museum in Rotterdam, last October. Apparently she was trying to protect her son who was charged with the theft.

Everyone who loves art and appreciates the art of the masters felt a deep sense of loss upon hearing the news.

One reporter simply said these paintings were, “Completely precious and totally irreplaceable.”

When I heard those words I thought they perfectly described those seven paintings. And then I realized they perfectly describe how our Lord thinks of you and of me!

Completely precious and totally irreplaceable!

You are unique. Among all of the billions of people who have lived, you are the only you. When you think about your mother, father, siblings, children, grand children, and dear friends you know this to be true.  And each one of them is completely precious and totally irreplaceable!

So tell them! Our Lord certainly tells you. “The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness;  he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” Zephaniah 3:17*
