Admittedly, the Book of Joel paints a bleak picture, of the failing of the people of God, and God's discipline. But...
I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten--the great locust and the young locust...You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God who has worked wonders for you, never again will my people be shamed.
--Joel 2:25,26 TNIV
But there will be a change of season, a time of refreshment, restoration, prospering.
The key for us in retrospect, why pursue the wasteland only to know the hardship of discipline? Let us live in this season with the Lord truly as the Lord of our lives.
