KEEP KNOCKING
November 28, 2013
Luke 11 is Jesus teaching on prayer.
"So I say to you, Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; those who seek find; and to those who knock, the door will be opened."
--Luke 11:9,10 TNIV

Jesus tells the story of the neighbor who pounds on the door in the middle of the night asking for a loaf of bread. The neighbor gives the bread, but Jesus says not because they are a neighbor, but because of the incessant and persistent pounding. What? I've read many varying interpretations of this, and conclude that at least it means keep on knocking.
Yes, prayer is commanded. Yes, prayer can be a very good thing. Yes, it can change things. But maybe these have the least to do with prayer. Jesus tells us, keep on pounding, keep on praying.
