MARTHA & MARY

November 25, 2013

Psychology has created all sorts of classifications of our personalities.  I'm offering still another: There are Martha's, and there are Mary's.

"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed--or indeed only one.  Mary has chosen what is better, and what will not be taken away from here."
                                               --Luke 10:41,42 TNIV

We need Martha's and Mary's, but...  Martha greeted Jesus, and she tended to him, made the pot roast, arranged the table, swept the living room, incessant.  But Mary, Mary came into Jesus' presence.  Mary knew THIS was the time to focus on being with Jesus.  Martha was so busy tending to, fretting for, that she never connected with Jesus.  And it was not her friends or family, but Jesus that said, it was the wrong choice.

So...Martha or Mary, who are you?  "Mary chose what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

Joyfully,
