BARABBAS--WHERE THE ACTION IS

I bet we think we're not followers. But how many of our decisions are based on what's trendy, where people are flocking to, where the action is?

So Pilate decided to grant their demand. He released [Barabbas] who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.
- Luke 23:24,25 TNIV

"Surrendered to their will." Barabbas: indeed a murderer and a terrorist, Guilty! Jesus: Innocent but condemned to death for terrorism and sedition. The judge knew it and the masses, the will of the people, didn't care.

Many of our decisions may not be founded on truth or what is right, but what is trendy, to the will of "what's happening." Barabbas was what's happening, Jesus was not. The will of the crowd cared little for what was right, or how it affected others--it's often that way when what is trendy, what everyone is into, is the foundation of decision making. And it proved them deadly fools.

I'm not talking about where to go to a restaurant here, but important decisions. Remember the crowd called for Barabbas.
