Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

JERUSALEM

December 23, 2013

Here are on the threshold of another Christmas celebration, yet do we get it?  Oh, yes we get the holiday, but do we grasp the incarnation, the birth of the Savior of the world, our Savior?

"Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings and you were not willing."
                                                   --Luke 13:34 TNIV

Jesus wept and grieved over the hard heart of Jerusalem and its people.  People who spoke a great deal about God, but did not worship God or honor God. but simply presumed upon God because they had been called, "the people of God."  Instead they crush God's messengers.

Jesus was the supreme messenger sent by God, and what did Jerusalem do to him?  We have a cross to remind us of that answer.  Yet it was the good news born for us.  Jerusalem could be a symbol for us: be wary when Christmas is mostly sentiment, and not a matter of bona fide faith in Jesus Christ.  Are you following Jesus this Christmas?

Joyfully,
