LEADER JOY
June 30, 2009
Somehow Moses became the leader of the people of God--skills, call, ambition, God's will. But in doing so, he got the people of God. They wanted a leader, yes. But from then on, they found fault, and ...were a pain in the neck!
Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.
- Hebrews 13:17 TNIV
Not just spiritual leaders, but political, church, I.S.D., organizations, governmental. It's easy to be critical, to find fault, to see how your leaders could do it right--"If I were leading..." It's an age old issue. Yet there's two sides to the coin of leadership. Hebrews says that leaders carry the burden of difficult, opinionated, critical masses--that seldom is a joy.
Hebrews invites us to paint a different picture. Imagine us being the kind of people whom our leaders delight in, who are a joy.
Joyfully,
Dale Patterson
