CRY TO THE LORD, Vol 8 No 30

August 10, 2009

Dear Friend,

If you are down and out there is genuine hope for you!

Psalm 107 begins with a wonderful word, “O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good” and then four times describes people who are down and out for many reasons and how the Lord came through for them.*

Some wandered in desert wastes... hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them. “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.” Psalm 107:4-6

Some sat in darkness and in gloom... for they had rebelled against the words of God... they fell down with no one to help. “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.” Psalm 107:10-13

Some became sick through their sinful ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities. “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.” Psalm 107:17-19

Others went down to the sea in ships... They mounted up to heaven, then went down to the depths; their courage melted away in their calamity... and were at their wit’s end. “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out from their distress.” Psalm 107:23-28

Whatever is going on in your life, don’t hesitate to cry out to the Lord and you will discover his love and support through whatever you are facing.

Psalm 107 ends with a good word: “Let those who are wise give heed to these things, and consider the steadfast love of the Lord.” Psalm 107:43
