Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

THE BYRDS

March 24, 2009

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." Yes, it was Roger McGuinn (David Crosby for a while) and The Byrds who took the Pete Seeger song and made it a hit. But the folk singer, Seeger, must have been reading his Bible; he took it from Ecclesiastes 3.

What do workers gain from their toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end....That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil--this is the gift of God.
- Ecclesiastes 3:9-11 TNIV

Ecclesiastes, the Preacher, see the upside and the downside of life, yet connects life and each of us to God, to eternity.

Life, even with its heartaches, is a gift from God. Any meaning comes from walking with our God. The Byrds and Pete Seeger were singers; God is the creator of the good news.
Joyfully,
