FIRST COMMANDMENT

But he did! King Ahab's successor, Ahaziah, trifled with a host of gods at a whim. Elijah reminded (sort of) the king of his violation of the First Commandment. And it would have dire consequences.

Almost 3000 years removed from Elijah and Ahaziah, and for all our progress, we have more gods entertaining us than Ahaziah could imagine. But there still is but one God, the Lord is one. Ahaziah is a reminder of the truth, and the life-giving reality of the First Commandment.
