Enjoy Life, Enjoy God
AN INHERITANCE
February 1, 2010
To be inspired by another person's life can be a blessing to the one who inspires us, as well as ourselves. "When I grow up I want to be like you"--such a statement can be humbling, as well as inspiring.

When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, "Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?"
"Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit," Elisha replied.
- 2 Kings 2:9 TNIV
Elijah is about to die, and he asks his disciple, Elisha, how he can help him. Imagine such a question at a person's death bed. Elisha says, "I want to be the kind of person you are, Elijah. Can I be the person you are?" Elisha has been inspired, trained, discipled by his elder, friend, and teacher, and when it's all about to end, he says, "I want to be like you."
Christian living is about discipleship. Imagine living a life that others say, "I want to be like you." Surely that is a life well-lived, as a Christ-follower. Maybe it can be our prayer: "Lord Jesus, I want my life to be such that others see you in me, and want to follow my example."
Joyfully,
