Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

If my memory serves me correctly, the famous Rosetta Stone was the decoding key, the code book that broke open the translation of thousands of ancient hieroglyphics. The code book unlocked a picture of a new world, but long-gone society.

Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the secretary, "I have found the Book of the Lord in the temple of the Lord...."
When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robes.
- 2 Kings 22:8,11 TNIV

In spite of our worst, God is always up to something. Several terrible kings follow Hezekiah until another "good guy," Josiah comes to the throne, and he orders a remodeling of the temple. Digging around in the basement of the temple, a guy finds a dusty old book, and starts to read it, and takes it to Josiah. They realize it's the scripture, the Word of God. Josiah, while a good king, suddenly realizes that they've been sailing through life without a rudder, and he cries out to God. "Forgive us, O God. We will heed your Word." To which he is told: "Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the Lord," I will be gracious to you.

You may have heard of the Gold Standard for currency. Josiah put the people of God back on the Word of God Standard, and new life infused a life-less and disoriented day and people. The Rosetta Stone, the Word of God, not only put people back on a new standard, but opened to them new hope.
