Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

Just a few days ago the Winter Olympics entertained us, maybe even caused us to marvel at the athletes' dedication and accomplishments. Winning a Gold Medal...that's something!

Blessed are those who persevere under trial, because when they have stood the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
- James 1:12 TNIV

Yet God offers us something grander than a Gold Medal. The Crown of Life is our prize. But it comes, we are told not by how fast we ski down a mountainside, or cut on blades above the ice. The Crown of Life comes by perseverance in something we will all face. Most will never compete in the Olympic Downhill, but we will face trials, trials of faithfulness and integrity, the rub of adversity. To persevere in Christ is to win the crown.

The issue is not a prize as in a medal in an event, but a grace of God in Jesus Christ, not secured by our virtue, but by keeping our eyes upon Christ, following him, persevering in him through it all. It's your Crown...and keep your eyes on Christ.
