TEMPTED? SORT OF...

March 10, 2010

Temptation happens outside of us, initially. But, but it quickly involves our cooperation, if we are not vigilant.

...But each of you is tempted when you are dragged away by your own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
- James 1:13,14 TNIV

So, temptation happens. Yet James illustrates the temptation-sin cycle here.
Temptation happens--confronts us.
Desire within us kindles the temptation giving it a foothold in us. So our lesser-desire entices us to pursue temptation's call. James pictures this as being "dragged away."
Sin is born in this cooperation with the initial temptation, and...we're gone.

The Letter of James is inherently relevant. James has little use for a religious faith that does not guide our path and direct the way of a disciple. James is a friend to us, if you want to follow Christ.

Joyfully,
