COME & SEE

April 9, 2010

"Check this out," we hear, or, "Look at this." Most of us walk into our future step by step. We check things out as we live our lives. "Come and see" is a repeated invitation toward growing discipleship.

"We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote--Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."
"Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked.
"Come and see," said Philip.

-John 1:45,46 TNIV

There is a posture of growing discipleship, a leaning into a vibrant faith. It won't happen with a hardened non-negotiable need for a signed contract with all the questions and concerns answered. Nor will it demand of us blind obedience. Yet it does require, "come and see." "Check this out."

"Come and see" is not only what Philip asked of Nathanael, but it's what Jesus asks of us. It's a common invitation in the New Testament. If we are willing to come and see, we're on the right road because we serve a faithful God.
Joyfully,
