Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

Jesus was a master at pointing us to the world around us, and seeing the work of the kingdom in our midst. His illustrations, his metaphors, help us to see.

"The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where is comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
-John 3:8 TNIV

Consider the great Nicodemus story of John 3. Nicodemus is allegedly a religious expert, but as Nick desperately tries to ponder the things of the kingdom, Jesus says, "Nicodemus, Consider the wind, what can we learn from the wind? You know it's there, but we can't control it, and it gusts and swirls...we really don't know that much about the wind, but it is! So is the life in the Spirit." the conversation leaves Nick, maybe you and me, scratching our heads.

If we're to follow Jesus, if we are to walk toward the kingdom of God, take a lesson from the wind; the Spirit is in charge, not Nicodemus, and not you and me. It blows "wherever it pleases." But the ways of God are altogether good!
