Light
Ever use your cell phone for a flashlight? The room where you are is so dark, yet even the dim light of a cellphone display can light our way.

"As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."
- John 9:5 NRS

Jesus gives sight to the man born blind. In doing so, he does what he is: brings light to the world. In doing so, darkness retreats. Like your cell phone flashlight, the light of Christ, pushes the darkness back. The light of Christ illuminates, it reveals that which was covered in darkness.

This is true not simply for a blind person, but for us as well. Yet if you don't have a light source, the darkness prevails. "As long as I am in the world..." Jesus says. As long as Jesus is present, then the darkness in our world retreats. "Lord, stay with us today. Shine your light into all of our darkness. Amen."
