Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

"Bene" "diction," or good saying. Often it's the last words of a worship service.

May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine on us--so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.
- Psalm 67:1,2 TNIV

The Psalmist starts this benediction like many others with a blessing upon the people, "May God bless you and keep you..." But quickly it changes direction. The subject no longer is us, the people being blessed, but the new subject and the remainder of this delightful psalm is God! "May the peoples praise you, God..."

One of my favorite moments of worship is to receive the blessing. Yet true blessing does not happen with us as the subject, but with God. As Rick Warren reminded in The Purpose-Driven Life, "It's not about you." It's about God!
