SAME MIND

Mind: As in, "out of your mind," or "having a right mind," or "differing minds," and also, "of the same mind."

Let those of us then who are mature be of the same mind; and if you think differently about anything, this too God will reveal to you. - Philippians 3:15 NRS

The more I read the New Testament, "getting along," being "one," shouts louder and louder at me. Paul tells the Philippians, even the ones who ought to know better, the mature, he calls them: "be of the same mind." Many of us like to be around same minds, and it really bugs us when we disagree, or are of differing minds. Paul offers us a thought: if you are mature, focus on what you agree (of same mind), and on those matters where you are of differing minds, that's God's business: "God will reveal to you."

Sadly, this is not how we live. We focus on the differing mind, and we take it upon ourselves to fix the difference. But Paul says, "Those differences, that's God's business, not ours." Make it a point today, all you mature ones, to focus on "the same mind," leave the rest to God.
