Hotlips Houlihan was a character in the serial, "MASH." But there is a hotlips in Isaiah as well: Isaiah!

"Woe to me!" I cried. "I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty."
When one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips, your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for."

-Isaiah 6:5,6 TNIV

When Isaiah sees God he quickly knows he's a dirty and unholy person in the presence of a holy God, and there's nothing he can do about it. Yet God does something about it. The angel "cleanses" Isaiah. God takes the initiative and puts Isaiah right again.

Today you will see a cross somewhere. The cross of Christ is just such a burning coal that brings new life to people unable to help themselves. Rejoice, in Christ we are forgiven.
