DARK NIGHT

September 30, 2010

"It was a dark and stormy night..." We are taught in school this is an illustration of bad writing, cliche at the least. But a dark night is nothing with which to trifle.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Lord will have compassion on Jacob; once again he will choose Israel and will settle them in their own land."
-Isaiah 14:1 TNIV

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The prophet Isaiah continues his message to the ears that will hear. The people of God are abandoned, the good news seemingly has gone away forever. They live in a dark night. But Isaiah says "the Lord will have compassion on Jacob." The dark night will not last forever.

The saints who've gone before us also knew of what they called, " a dark night of the soul." This is a season in a disciple's life where God seemingly disappears; we are left abandoned. However they learned, and they counsel us, the darkness will not last, "once again he will choose Israel." And neither will our dark night last. Thanks be to God in Jesus Christ.

Joyfully,
