VOTE! Vol 9 No 36

November 2, 2010

Dear Friend,

Today is Election Day in the United States of America.

Countries have different forms of governance.   In all cases, authority ultimately comes from God.  “For there is no authority except from God, and those authorities that exist have been instituted by God.”  Romans 13:1b*

In the United States, power is passed to the “rulers” from the “ruled” by means of the vote.  Your use of your vote is an exercise of the God-given power to govern.  So, if you are a United States citizen, I earnestly urge you to seek our Lord’s guidance and vote your conscience at the polls today.

Pray that our Lord grants courage and wisdom to those who win their elections.

Pray for those who lose their elections, thanking God for their willingness to be candidates and for their well-being and future.

Indeed, the Apostle Paul urges us to pray for those in authority, that it may be well for us.

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity.” I Timothy 2:1-2

Above all, today:  VOTE!

With joy - E. Stanley Ott
