WHY FEET?

To be human is to complain about bad news, moan about news reports’ serial listing of one crisis and tragedy after the other. Yet so-called "Good News" stations have never worked out. But that does not mean we don't want to hear good news.


How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

- Isaiah 52:7 TNIV

Isaiah tells the people of God that "good news bringers" have pretty feet. That people in Isaiah's day and ours, we all long for good news, but why feet, why did he choose to say that feet was the issue? Feet was the image Isaiah chose for the mode of transportation, the tool a mighty God used to bring encouragement, hope, help, and a breath of fresh air to our ears, to our minds, to our hearts. That made for good-looking feet.

The issue, I am sure, is not the feet, but the good news. Let me remind you, Jesus Christ not only brings the good news, but Jesus Christ IS the good news.
