LOOK

December 10, 2010

A child calls its parent, "Mommy, look...look at what I'm doing!" But look can also be a prayer.

Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter, we are all the work of your hand. Do not be angry beyond measure, Lord, do not remember our sins forever. Oh, look on us, we pray, for we are all your people.
                                                    - Isaiah 64:8,9 TNIV

Isaiah calls God to look; it's a prayer. Not only does the prophet know that we are all works in progress, but God still has a hand in our lives, wooing us to be the people we truly are meant to be. Isaiah wants God to look.

But what of us? Is that what we want? Do we want our God in heaven to look in on us today? Bad or good, Psalm 139 teaches us that God is with us, looking in, no matter what. Good news...seeing it all, and our gracious God has yet to give up on any of us.

Joyfully,
