Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

ME

December 17, 2010

Therapists teach us that we can only control the behavior of one person: me, myself.

Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped...But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served....But as for me and my household we will serve the Lord.
                                                - Joshua 24:14,15 TNIV

These were Joshua's last words to the people he had led to a life in the Promised Land.  Yet, he knew it was now up to them. He could not control them, only summon them. He could only control himself, his household. The people of God, their track record was not too good with such freedom.

So it comes down to "ME" for us as well. You can't control me, nor I you. "But as for me," says Joshua. How do you fill in the blank: "As for me and my household we will ___________________?"

Joyfully,
