Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

A challenge for Christians today is to live out the faith, but that challenge does not preclude what we believe. Proper teaching of doctrine is foundational to lifestyle and how we live.

"Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to [Jezebel's] teaching and have not learned Satan's so-called deep secrets, I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come."
                                                                                                                       - Revelation 2:24,25 TNIV

Many in the Church at Thyatira fell prey to a false teaching and set aside the message of good news in Christ in exchange for a dangerous lie. In John's Revelation, he calls the head of that movement, Jezebel, which may not have been her real name. But the point is they had let go of the gospel message and embraced a lie. They failed to hold on.

Yet, others did not fall for Jezebel's deception. Their charge merely was to hold on to Jesus Christ and the gospel. In the face of our challenges today, that remains our task also. There's plenty of Jezebel's wooing us away from genuine discipleship. Our task is to hold on. Hold on to Jesus Christ.
