KING OF KINGS & LORD OF LORDS

March 29, 2011

For all the controversy and debate about the meaning of The Revelation, it comes down to this: God is in charge.  Yes, there is real evil, and terrible suffering and rebellion, but not unlimited, and when the smoke begins to clear we see...

"I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war."
                                                           - Revelation 19:11 TNIV

We read of the war in heaven, the chaos from that war, the challenge to God's sovereignty, but as the battle concludes, there stands a white horse and a rider: Faithful and True.  The beast is no match for this rider, and it's the Word of God who claims the battlefield.  And the rider has a name written on his thigh: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

People who suffer, even John who's on a prison island...we all need to be reminded who really is in charge.  There's no equivocation about that!  He is Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  And as Handel put it, "He shall reign forever and ever."

Joyfully,
