GIMME
May 11, 2009
In The Rules of Golf during match play competition, if your opponent concedes your putt, you must accept your opponent's generosity, or something to that effect. It's a gimme.
We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.... how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation?
- Hebrews 2:1,3 TNIV
Why not gladly accept the gimme, the gift? Maybe it's pride, practice, point-proving, or hard-heartedness. Yet here we have the author of Hebrews telling us of our salvation in Jesus Christ by grace through faith. It would be foolish to walk away from such a gift, such grace and mercy.
I mean no disrespect or to trivialize this matter, but it's like a gimme! Having received the gift, let us live in gratitude and faithfulness of such a great salvation.
Joyfully,
Dale Patterson
