GOD'S TASTE AND SEE, Vol 8 No 19

May 12, 2009

Dear Friend,

Where do you find hope when your life is in a world of hurt?

I once made a long, daily commute back and forth between home and work. The trip was boring and I occupied my mind by committing the 34th Psalm to memory. It has been one of my favorites ever since.

In fact, it often comes to mind in my dentist’s office: “I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall continually be in my mouth!” Psalm 34:1*

Psalm 34 is a psalm by a person who certainly was in a world of hurt. “This poor soul cried!”
The psalm wonderfully reports that our good Lord not only heard the cry but saved the one who cried from every trouble! Psalm 34:6

No wonder this person loved the Lord and invites us to join in worship!
“O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.” Psalm 34:3

So, whatever is happening in your life, allow the words of this psalm to become your words and permit the instructions of the psalm to guide you: “Look to him, and be radiant; so your faces shall never be ashamed. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. O taste and see that the LORD is good; happy are those who take refuge in him.”

Psalm 34:5,7-8
