Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

What if you came to church this Sunday and the preacher simply said, "Repent. You need to repent?"

They went out and preached that people should repent.  They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.
                                                    - Mark 6:12,13 TNIV
When Jesus sends out the Twelve for their first missionary venture, what is their ministry, their message?  "Repent."  And they bring compassion and caring by delivering people and healing them.  But note the significance of "repent."  Of what did they need to repent?  Were they murderers, Enron execs, child molesters, gangland thugs?  No, certainly not most of them. They were you and me.  "Repent."
What might that mean for us?  The good news starts with "repent."  Things need to change is the message.  The gospel summons us to turn from our ways, and turn unto the ways of Christ, kingdom-living.  I suggest that Christian Ministry 2011 faces the same challenge, the same message: repent.  Good news start with this very word, R-E-P-E-N-T.
