Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

When my mother used to say, "Listen to me!" she was not particularly concerned about how my ears functioned.

Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: "This is my son, whom I love.  Listen to him!"
                                                    -- Mark 9:7 TNIV
The Transfiguration Story.  Jesus takes Peter, James, and John on top of a mountain; and God shows up with the long-dead Elijah and Moses.  There, God tells them all about his Son.  It's a mysterious spectacle; and Peter, James, and John don't know what to make of it.  We struggle too.
"Listen to him."  The mystery of the spectacle remains, but the obvious implication is "Listen."  Again, like my mother, God tells us not so much to hear the words, but to obey the words, heed the message, do as Jesus says.  "Listen to him."  That ought to keep us busy today.
