BLUNDER REDEMPTION

July 27, 2011

How many times have you made promises, commitments and broke them? Ever feel like giving up altogether? Don't.

Peter began to call down curses, and he swore to them, "I don't know this man you're talking about."
Immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows twice, you will disown me three times." And he broke down and wept.answer.
                                                   - Mark 14:71-72 TNIV

Peter was despondent, fed up with himself. What a colossal failure. Like Judas, surely thoughts of destroying himself filled his mind. He'd bungled his commitment, his promises, in spite of being warned by Jesus that he'd do just that. So Jesus was right. But there was redemption, rescue, a fresh start for Peter, because we know the rest of the story.

And there is redemption, rescue, and a fresh start for you, for us, as well. No matter how far you have fallen, how you've bungled your life and your promises, like Peter, Christ wants to start over again with you. The faith of Jesus Christ, dear one, is about blunder redemption. Believe it, and start over again. The only irredeemable blunder is to give up starting over.

Joyfully,
