SAVED OTHERS

August 1, 2011

"Saved" is a word that Christians give special meaning.  Yet often we and others have no idea the breadth of its meaning.

In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves.  "He saved others," they said, "but he can't save himself!"  Let this Messiah, this king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe."  Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him.
                                                 - Mark 15:31,32 TNIV

"He saved others..." I suppose this refers to healings, deliverance from demons.  But even in their hatred they did not understand that Jesus' saving was over bigger matters than a mere illness, only to die eventually anyway.  But this salvation is from sin, salvation even from themselves.

Yes, he saved others, and he saved you and me from ourselves.  When we say, "Jesus saves," it's hard to comprehend how great is that salvation.

Joyfully,
