Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

I don't know much about European soccer or "football," but during one of those great matches, I do love to hear the thousands of fans shouting, singing song after song for their heroes: Real Madrid, Arsenal, whomever.

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with Thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.

- Psalm 95:1,2 TNIV

The Psalmist here is a song-leader, summoning the congregation to overcome--let's put it this way--our inhibitions, our Protestant restraints, and to shout it out. If we would worship God in song, it would transform our lives, it would ignite our spirits--it's soul-building.

That's what I see going on in those European football match songfests! If the people of faith, that's us, would put our hearts into song and shouting, it would energize and shape our spirits in the week to come. Come, let us sing for the joy of the Lord!
