CONSISTENT

August 16, 2011

Stubborn: I've heard it, "Stubborn as a mule." Sometimes mules won't do even what's in their best interest, even when someone's trying to help them. Imagine that!

The Israelites are stubborn, like a stubborn heifer. How can the Lord pasture them like lambs in a meadow?
- Hosea 4:16 TNIV

Evidently cows are stubborn like mules. God calls his people "cows," stubborn, unruly cows. How does one treat a stubborn beast? I'm a city boy; I don't know how to deal with stubborn beasts. But the people of God, compared to a heifer, nevertheless want God to treat them like mild-mannered, sweet little lambs. Even God says, "Really?"

To be consistent God would treat the people of God (US!) like the unruly heifers we are. Yet, it seems, Hallelujah, that God does not. We are consistently stubborn, and God is inconsistent: God's grace does treat us like lambs, when often we are mules! Praise God in Jesus Christ!

Joyfully,
