Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

Sometimes we are unable to listen to the words spoken to us because of our defensiveness, and the spirit that says: What do you know?

Do you listen in on God's council?  Do you have a monopoly on wisdom?  What do you know that we do not know?  What insights do you have that we do not have?
---Job 15:8,9 TNIV
Job's comforters fight back.  "What do you mean ignoring our counsel?  Who do you think you are?  Do you know something we don't know?"  Yet through it all, they still miss the point.  It is true that they offer Job the wisdom of the ages, the common sense of many trusted counselors, but Job knows that their advice misses the mark.  And in that sense, he knows something they don't!
As Job presses on, all he has left is to cry out to God, and to lament his situation.  Even his wife says, "Curse God and die!"
