FOCUS

February 5, 2013

I was taught in motorcycle training when turning the bike through curves look at the goal, not where you might fall.  Don't look down, focus on where you want to go.

"Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."
"Come," he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.  But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"
                                                     --Matthew 14:28-30 TNIV

Peter experiences the miraculous empowerment of following Jesus, yet no sooner does he take his eyes off of Jesus, and start to look at his fears, he sinks.

No one is asking us to walk on the water today, but where we focus makes all the difference.  Let us keep our eyes on Jesus, not looking at where we might fall, but on where in Christ we want to go.  It's all about the goal, the focus.

Joyfully,
