Enjoy Life, Enjoy God
KIDS STUFF
February 20, 2013
Our children have a powerful, if not, central place in our lives. Yet at the same time, we often condescend and discount the significance of children.
He called a little child, whom he placed among them. And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
--Matthew 18:2,3 TNIV
We use words like, "kid's stuff," "childish," and build entire theologies that assume a child cannot be taken seriously as a believer until they grow up and mature. Jesus, seems to challenge this "grown-up" notion, and teaches that children should be our model.
If anything, the faith of Christ is "kid's stuff," and it's when we grow up, and become accountable--that's when we goof it all up. The faith of a child, it's a model for grown-ups...for us. We might work on being "childish" today.
Joyfully,
